I've been featured in fairytale treasury's blog! :D What a pleasant surprise ^__^! It's been awhile, since I've gotten busy, so I'm thrilled.

Sunday Linky Party #17 + Goodies

Happy Memorial Day weekend! I had such a great and tiring time last week. My husband came back from NYC to visit for a week so we and some of our out-of-state buddies rented a cabin in Yosemite and hiked until our legs were like spaghetti! I was extremely out of shape but motivated by the intense workout. The views hiking up the mountain and waterfalls were amazing and the weather was sunny but not too hot (in other words, perfect!) Now I'm so tired and sleep-deprived :( I think I woke up at noon today. Once I find my camera usb cord, I'll upload some pictures!

Now, for this week's featured posts. There were so many recipes this time, I think I'll call this the Food Edition :) Yum!

Super cute happy birthday garland! I love this! Check out how to make your own at Just Dream Jelly Bean.

Sunday Linky Party #16 + Goodies

Hubby came back from NYC to visit for a week! Yay :) We're going to do (probably) way too many things in this amount of time, starting with a trip to Yosemite with several of our out-of-state friends for a few days. Luckily I was able to get these days off so I can get back in shape with some mountain hiking. Looking very forward to it because sitting in an office = getting flabby. Also did some shopping that I didn't feel guilty about (what a rare occurrence!)

Now onto this Sunday's goodies! Once again, there were so many good blog posts from last week's linky, it was really hard narrowing down what I wanted to show. I think I have some of the most talented linky friends on the internet :)

Switch up your usual breakfast table decor with these pretty poppies! Find the tutorial at JAQS Studio. I bet these would look amazing with a double row of "petals" as well, but then they wouldn't be poppies anymore...

Sunday Linky Party #15 + Goodies

Walked around a lake this morning with my mom again. I'm really enjoying the Saturday morning exercises, I think I may make this a habit. I also watched "Sleepers" on Ion TV (so random, right? but I was channel surfing and happened to stop on this one). It was such a good movie! Plus, watching a young-ish Brad Pitt is always nice :)

I've been busy with work and studying, plus I have so many ideas in my head that's waiting to be brought out. I need to improve my time management. Still, I'm enjoying California and loving the sunshine in my garden, the neighborhood cats, and commuting (when the traffic isn't bad. Sounds crazy huh? :)

Well, here's to another talented Sunday!

Check out this nautical woven pillow by the Crafty Cpa. It's rough edges and red thread gives this shabby-chic pillow some pop! The red, white, and blue adds some patriotic spirit, just in time for Memorial Day :)

DIY Rice Bran Nourishing & Exfoliating Face Mask

On Sunday, besides eating and hanging out with mom, I decided to make her my favorite rice bran face mask so we can pamper ourselves together. I took a picture of the mix but can't find my camera's USB cord for the life of me! Arg! Hopefully it's not lost for good. Well, I said I'd post the recipe today so you can all try it at home!

Rice bran is the outer layer of a rice grain and that's where all the important nutrients and vitamins are. Unfortunately, when rice is milled and the outer layers are removed (brown rice becoming white rice), most of the nutrients are gone as well. Luckily, rice bran can be bought separately and added to foods such as breads, cereals, etc. to enrich them. Sounds pretty counter-intuitive huh?

Sunday Linky Party #14 + Goodies

Happy Mother's Day! What are your plans for your mothers today? Since I've moved back to California (I think it's been over a month now), I'm spending a lot more time with mom. Today, we're planning to go for a nice long walk/mild hike around a lake, and then grab lunch! Afterwards, I want to show her this face mask that I've been making, using rice bran and other natural ingredients, so we can pamper ourselves together :) I'll post a recipe for it on Wednesday! As for now, enjoy the lovely projects below and the rest of your Sunday!

Like scrapbooking and sewing? Here's a great project for you! From the Crafty Cpa, she'll show you how to incorporate your favorite scrapbook paper design onto a piece of fabric for your pillow cover. If you liked her embroidery art tutorials from the previous Sunday Linky Parties, you'll want to check out her new vintage camera embroidery as well!

How to Get Away with Almost Anything

Blush. And by that, I mean the bashful kind of blush.

Blushing Beauty vintage rosy pink visor by heartsmiles

In a study done at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, 196 college students, ages 17 to 44, played an online prisoner's dilemma game. During the first round, a virtual opponent cooperated with the participant's playing strategy and each shared the winnings. During the second round, the opponent abandoned the participant's strategy and earned a a larger winning. After both rounds, participants were shown pictures of the virtual female opponent, who had one of four expressions: neutral, neutral with blush, embarrassment, or embarrassment with blush.

Hope you all had a great Easter weekend last week! There were several recipes so I had to post them, because food is always good :) Here are more unique design and craft ideas for you to try your hand at.
