You Are What You Read

It's been awhile since I've curled up with a good story book (I've been reading a lot of how-to and informational books lately), so I think summer's the perfect time to get started on a new novel. After all, isn't there a whole section of books called summer/beach reads (or am I getting the name mixed up)? Anyway, you've probably already theorized this, but never found much evidence to back it up, until now, which is: when you read a work of fiction, your thoughts and behavior can change to match those of your favorite character, according to a study published by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology (via an article I found from The Body Odd).

Inspiring Masterpieces Made From Books

I came across these gorgeous works of art through an intro to Guy Laramee from the Abduzeedo website. Aren't they seriously awe-inspiring? I'm intrigued enough to try my own hand at this, but it may be a disaster :) Check out more beautiful landscapes created from old books, below!

Unique & Free Fonts

If you've ever tried making a poster or a card on the computer, you'll know how frustrating it is to not have the perfect font that captures your message. Well, hopefully I've made your life a little easier by compiling a gallery of some fonts that I've found and really like!

How to Predict the Weather

In the spirit of teaching our kids (and ourselves :) how to read the weather in the old-fashioned, non-electronic way, here's an extremely awesome educational poster! And you know what's even better? It's a super big image file so you can save it, print it out, and post it on a bedroom wall! Are you as excited about this as I am?? :) Just click on the image for the original size. Here's also a link to the original source. Enjoy!

Cute Bento Box Lunches

Alright, I've been eating a lot of Japanese food for lunch because there's a Japanese supermarket near my work that sells packaged lunches for a very reasonable price range. Unfortunately, they do not sell super cute bento boxes like the ones I'm going to show you. One day, I'd like to make a couple of these for my future kids and be the coolest mom ever, but for now, let's just gush over how cute and fun they look! :)

Top Words on Your Blog

Ever wonder what the most recent keywords to your blog or website are? Apparently, mine are about making orange juice and partying, ha! I found this awesome website called Wordle, which lets you submit a paragraph in a word box or the link to your website, and instantly creates this amazing word cloud by picking out the words that appear the most. This is a useful tool because it helps you see what your blog/site is really about, whether that's what you want it to be or not.

How Many Sisters in a Happy Family?

How many siblings do you have? Perhaps just one sister? If that's the case, did you have a happy family life?

Apparently, a popular U.K. parenting site (Bounty.com) did a study surveying over 2,000 families with different combinations of siblings and made a list of the "Best to Worst Combinations of Kids" for a harmonious family life (via one of my fav websites, the Body Odd, click to read the original article :)

I Love Spring Time Notecards by whimsywhimsical

Tell me a little about yourself.
I'm Yee Von, a freelance illustrator from Malaysia. My artworks are pen on paper and colored digitally in Photoshop. I love the feeling of putting my imaginations onto paper with ink. Other than that, I enjoy stargazing and looking at the clouds in the sky which just makes me feel relaxed. I currently have a full-time day job, and my etsy shops are my part-time job :)
